Why bother? it’s Christmas time
63Why bother? it’s Christmas time
We are just few weeks away from Christmas. I see all the mad people on a street buying useless stuff, just to have a present for everyone. I am not so happy about christmas as I was as a child.
When I was a child, the Christmas had a meaning. People used to gather together, laugh together, sing together, share love with each other. I feel that these days people got cold as the days of December and the stores are full of junk which we are supposed to buy.
A recent story is on my mind. I spoke to my collegue at work about something related to christmas. He has a mother but his father had just passed away few weeks before. He also has a sister.
When christmas is coming he and his sister argue about-Who takes in their mother for achristmas, not to be alone. His sister does not want to have her as she thinks her mother will spoil the christmas eve. So my collegue decided to take her.
What I am talking about is the cruelty and attitude of his sister. Even we know, after a christmasseve they all will gather together and recive their gifts from their mother as was always family tradition. Is that the way the christmass should be?
Everyone talks about How great christmas is but it’s just and act to get something easy. I am just an old fashion girl. How can I be happy during the christmas if I know there are people who suffer? who are alone on christmas? What I do not like most is, when people go to church once in a year, praying, singing and glorify god just becausethe neigbours do the same.
The saddest thing is that there are many people out there Who will be alone due to many factors.
So what is special about christmas?-Just a few days off, that is all I see!
Who will help an old lady to cut wood, so she can have enough to use in winter?
Who will visit abandoned children in a foster house to brighten their days?
Who will give the homeless a place to stay over a christmas?
Who will help an unemployed person to get a confidence back?
Who will feed the birds?
Those are just toughts out of my head.
During Christmas we all could think about thinks which we can do for others.
Have you ever tought about giving your older clothes to charity?
Have you any spare coins to give people on the street?
Have you ever made a present out of nothing for someone you love?
Have you ever surprized someone , unexpectedly in a nice way?
Have you ever said to your relatives How much you love them?
There are many things we can do, even without a penny from our pocket. Sometimes its just to take a little time to think of something we can do for other. Sometimes we just should stop running and follow our hearts to spread love and joy, the true spirit of christmas.

LizzyBoo,
You are so right! There is to much commercialism is that a word. We often forget those who are in need, all through the year, not just at Christmas! I enjoyed your story! Let's just have the joy in our hearts and see if we can spread that to others!

What a heart felt Hub this was! It is indeed a shame how Christmas has changed. Now Christmas seems to be all about the gifts. People in the stores around Christmastime don't even have any respect for other shoppers. They push people aside for the last toy or whatever and... just no consideration.
Thanks for an eye-opening Hub.
