Sri Lanka
A green diamond in the middle of Indian Ocean- that is Sri Lanka. There were some riots in spring 2009 After that Sri Lanka is again gaining the trust from a travellers and holiday seekers.
It is situated in the south away from India. Sri Lanka offers many leisure activities for everyone.
Long sandy beaches, huge coco palms, amazing nature scenery, nice warm climate , Tea plantations. You can also see monuments and historic highly treasured remains of a bygone age. People are very friendly here and have a varied religious culture.
Sri Lanka is the most romantic place in the world. Once you get here, you will never wish to leave.
Colombo
It is the capital city of Sri Lanka situated in west coast side of the island. Thanks to its big port in Colombo, the city is very suitable for trade.
Many world known Banks have their branches here. Colombo was established by Arabian traders. In 1517 and was overtaken by the Portuguese.
The Portuguese were driven away by theDutch. The Dutch left a beautiful a tower in the centrum of the city.
In 1796 power was gained by the Brittish..
You can walk around the city and visit museums, restaurants, parks and monuments.
Wadduwa
It was a fishing Village in the past.now it is a haven for tourists from all over the world. It is situated in the south, 72km away from Colombo. It is nice quiet place with a few restaurants dotted around. Transfer from Colombo to Wadduwa takes around 1hour and a half.
Kalutara
An amazing place to stay. Beautiful with long sandy beaches situated 82 km away from the capital town of Colombo. You can explore restaurants, shops in this part of island. Transfer from Colombo to Kalutara takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Beruwala
Situated 95km away from Colombo. It is one of the busiest tourist places. You can find here stores, restaurants, bars, beaches. Transfer takes 2 hours
Ahungalla
From a small fishing village this place has become a great place for a leasure activity tourists. It is a quiet place and very romantic especially if you are not looking for heavy tourist traffic.
Situated 115km away from Colombo. Transfer from Colombo takes about 2 hours and half. It is worth to get here as is the best place for holiday.

Tower Sigitiya – one day trip. Entry this amazing tower with remains from 5th century. Explore the amazing views of the countryside from the top. This monument is listed under (UNESCO)- national heritage.
Rainforest in Singharaja – it is also protected by UNESCO.

It is my dream to visit this place, as I would be able to hunt those creatures for hours just to see them. Excellent place for every animal lover.
Safari park – another amazing thing to do. Get on a Jeep and travel trough wild nature. If you are lucky you can see wild elephants, Buffalos, leopards, crocodiles, reptiles and birds.

See Lizzy I am seperated 15 months now and am a bit worried about going on holiday alone, I didnt go away last year but I deff want to this year so I look to you to find me the best place for a week around Sept, I am putting myself in yer hands xox
Thanks for the information Lizzy. I have never been to Sri Lanka. Often thought of popping across when I was in India but it never happened. Now I know where to visit, perhaps I will.
