Room Makeover for Teenage Girls

Litlle girls love pinks and fluffy things and they love highschool musical or Hannah Montannah and they are happy to have pretty shiny things in their bedrooms.

The trouble is that when they reach the age of 11 or 12 their tastes change and their Idols become more grown up.

It is a natural part of growing up and when those little girls start to mature into teenagers they like to give their bedrooms a make over to suit their more mature attitude.

Below you will find some tips and advice to help you make your room more more mature and suited to your age without spending a lot of money.

Walls

Before we begin with the walls you have to decide which of the posters on your walls that you would like to keep and which ones have to go.

Remove them all and then get your parents to help you and give the walls a coat of paint of the colour that you like.

Decorating your room gives you the opportunity to spend some quality time sharing a family activity.

Painting your room should take a day by the time it takes for the paint to dry.

A coat of paint breathes a new life into your room.

Get some new posters that suit your new tastes from magazines or printed off on your computer, if you have one or 2 posters that are extra special for you ask your parents if they can get them framed for you.

TOP TIP – When you thinking of a colour for your walls always think of your carpet. If you are not sure just ask your mum. She will help you decide.

Furniture

Even if your furnature is old and a bit worn, a good sanding down and a fresh coat of paint will bring a fresh new life to your old furnature.

TOP TIP –If your drawers or wardrobes contain too much it may be time for a bit of a clear out, get rid of the old clothes that dont fit you anymore and let someone else get the benefit of them, take them to your local charity shop.

If you have a lot of old toys or jewelery lying around you can easily make some storage boxes using some old shoe boxes and some walpaper.

How to make a storage box

1/ You need and old shoe box.

2/  You need wallpaper

3/  Scissors and glue

Firstly cut the paper using scissors to be able to cover all the sides of your chosen box. Be extra careful so your job looks well done. When you have all the sides cut, you are ready for glue.

Take your shoe box and spread the glue on the side which you are going to do first. Then také the piece of wallpaper and carefully put it on that side.  If you did a great job the box will look much better and you will have a great fancy box for free.

You can make as many boxes as you need. Each of them can look different. Have a lot of fun with that.

You can even make a pop star box. A box where you can store all the pictures and posters of your Idol. You girlfriends get mad as they see What a great job you have done.

Decoration

You will want some nice ornaments or small trinkets to add to your room and there are many nice things to be found in the charity stores, kill 2 birds with one stone and have a good look around when you take your old clothes and toys that you have grown out of.

TOP TIP –Decorating your room is pointles if you are going to leave your clothes or toys lying all over the floor.

So get your self a laundry basket for your clothes and you could make yourself a cool storage box like the one on the video.

TABLE- Do you have a compiuter on your table ? That is great. Is your table messy? Is your table full of magazines and stuff which should not be there, A good thing is to tidy up your table so you will be actually able to do your home work on the table.

You are growing into a young lady, let your room reflect your personallity. Dirty look of your room will not probably interest your boyfriend. As you can see, even  small changes can make a big difference. When you make the changes, you will be a young lady with a superb room! Enjoy your room and be proud to show it off  to your friends.
