Why I love Mary J. Blige?
When I was younger I found myself in love with the music of TLC, Incognito, Soul 2 soul, Dianna Ross and I was so influenced by R’N’B. I also loved ladies such as Robin Stone and Ce Ce Peniston and I always searched for their music in the small shops in the CzechRepublic. It was difficult to find good music in the CzechRepublic in the 1990’s.
One day I went into a small record store and found on the shelf an Album called “What’s the 411? By an artist named Mary J. Blige. I bought it because I liked the look of the lady on a cover. Sounds crazy I know when you think that the first CD that I ever bought was by an artist I had never even heard of. Until then I was only able to afford just tapes. So I bought it. I played the Album over and over again every day and every night and I never tired of it, As I was beginning to learn The English language at that time I even translated all of the Lyrics to Czech.
Mary I love you for your lyrics.
Then after few years I bought the Album “Share my world” this Album touched me.
One song in particular moved me so much “Our Love” touched my heart.
As with the first album I listened to this one over and over.
I considered myself a big fan after listening to this album, in fact it inspired me to go out and buy the rest of her albums
Living in the UK at this time, It was easier to complete the collection than it would have been back at home in the CzechRepublic! My most favorite album is “No More Drama”. I was going trough rough in the UK, Had many sleepless nights and your music helped me to cope with all that I was going trough. My friend was suffering from cancer at that time. She died after Christmas in 2002………….
A Letter to Mary J. Blige
Dear Mary,
I talk to you like an old friend, because your music has touched my life and I feel that I have known you for so long.
I know you are living in a different world from the world where I come from and you probably get letters everyday from Fans who have also been touched by your music.
I have a dream, a dream which comes to me from time to time. The dream is simple. You have a concert in CzechRepublic/ funny I know/ and I was able to meet you there.
I dreaming of meeting you as I truly believe we would have a lot to talk about. I am not a fan, who would go crazy at the sight of you, because I see you as a person, who has so much to say.
I love you for your influence you have had in my life. There is not a day that passes that I don’t listen to your music.
Everyday I check the newspapers, magazines and the Internet looking for articles, about you and news of up coming music that you may be releasing.
I feel that you are so far away and I will never be able to see you live on stage in my country. I know you sing a lot in Germany as well, but even that is unreachable to me.
You are my true inspiration and I am so glad that you exist!
It must be a lot presure to be a world known star and I hope you cope well. You probably won’t ever read this but all I wanted to say I love you so much.
Lizzy
