How to choose a good language school?
69How to choose a good language school?
Now that you have made the decision to learn a New Language it is time to start thinking about which Language school is best suited for you.
There are language schools in every town. I work in third biggest city in Czech Republic. This city has over 100 language schools listed on the Internet.
So my question is, are they all good?
Would I get what I want if I apply?
It is hard decision to choose a good school.
I wish to share with you all of the important aspects which help you to choose the right school. When you are searching on the Internet for a good language school you should always always have in mind thefollowing factors.
Top 7 tips to make your decision well
1/ Quality and prestige
What to look for on the Interne
- Does the language school have any prestige?
- Is the school involved in international programmes? (student’s exchange, cooperation with another language school from a different country).
- Is the school well known and a favorite amongst students?
- look also how well made the website of the language school is If the website is not well Presented then the school won’t be any good either.
2/ Language
How many languages do the school offer?
Is there a language you wish to study?
I have found out, that schools which are providing less languages are mainly better then schools which they offer a lot of them. I am not saying it is always like that. When I am choosing a language school, I always look for a school which is focused on the language I wish to study.
3/ Price/ fees
Do not look only on money. Some schools might be expensive, but saving money on your studies should not be the priority.
You might find cheaper lessons, but would the quality be the same? That is what you should think of.
4/ Teachers
The most important! Always look How qualified the teachers are. What qualification they have. Native speakers are most popular. Does the school offer a British speaking teacher or American speaking teachers? Good language schools also allow you to come in to see a class once for free to get a view of the quality of the teacher. Always ask for such visit if possible.
5/ Location of school
This is also very important. Where is the school loacated
Can you reach it by car?
Is it close to your work?
Are there any bus stops?
a good location might save you a lot of time.
6/ The way of teaching versus How often
Always ask what books the school uses to teach. If the school has any alternative ways of teaching?
Does the school have a library which students can attend?
How often are the lessons run? Twice a week? Once a week?
Would you have time to attend classes in a certain time?
7/ Certificates
Always good to know what you want to achieve, then look for the certificates which you can gain by studying in the language school. The most popular are the Cambridge exams.
Keep on trying!
If you think of those things before you search for a school it helps you. Then all you need is to concentrate on your studies, instead of thinking How to get into your new school.
Once you start study in a language school, always do as much as you can to get as much as you can from it.
Go for it!

Hmm... I'm not aware of any language schools near me. I learned all my languages in school - as a built-in program. My language school currently is the AAOCL... you'll have to email me to find out what that is. Cha cha.
Ne. I'll e-mail you and let you know. lol
Pictures are really good source of teaching instead of text, its my familiarity, what would you say?
Hey everyone!
I know how difficult it is to find a decent language school. I was searching for quite a while for a school in central america where I can learn spanish. And then I got a great tip from a friend of my family. The school is called "El Estudiante" and is located in Playa del Carmen in Mexico.
Playa del Carmen is directly on the Riviera Maya, about an hour down south from Cancun, in the middle of the Carribbean. Definitly worth a visit! ;)
So I signed up for 8 weeks in the school and I don't regret my choice at all! The school is great, there were about 3 students in each class, and we always did activities in the afternoon as well, like trips to different beaches, cenotes (underground caves) or even a big BBQ in the school.
The time in Playa was so much fun, I made new friends and experienced a lot of new things.
And since I like to party at night, Playa del Carmen is the perfect place for me because there is nightlife seven days a week right on the beach!
I will definitely go back as soon as possible!
